Main Purpose of Job To be a key player in the Project Team with responsibility for managing and co-ordinating a significant number of varied projects both onshore and in offshore environments. This hands on position will include everything from client liaison through to the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of electrical instrumentation systems. You will provide an electrical engineering resource combining a logical approach to problem solving, the practical skill base and the technical expertise with which to enhance the company's existing reputation amongst clients.
Key Responsibilities (shall include, but are not limited to): Technical
- To be responsible for or assist in the manufacture, assembly, test and repair, installation and commissioning of instrumentation systems and equipment.
- To be conversant with the technical aspects of each project & to have a full understanding of the scope of work.
- Implement & organise any approved modifications to each project, ensuring all changes are fully documented and included in the appropriate work file.
- Compile engineering & technical specifications, drawings, work packs, field reports and operation manuals as part of the project.
- Participate offshore in the role of Field Engineer as required.
- Supervise sub contractors as required.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors as and when required.
- Provide regular communication when offshore with the office & provide progress reports.
- Awareness of contract profit expectations and reporting to the Project Manager.
General
- Attend and participate in company / project meetings to maintain good communications and aid business and organisational development.
- Keep up to date with ongoing developments in the field of instrumentation.
- Comply with the company's QHSE Management System.
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education
- Minimum HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineer or equivalent professional qualification.
Experience
- Proven, extensive offshore experience in the installation and commissioning of electrical instrumentation systems.
- Experience in report writing.
- Experience in managing projects and personnel offshore.
- Working knowledge of AutoCad, PLC's, MMI's and networks.
- Experience of working in hazardous areas.
- Experience with control panel manufacture / installation.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent practical engineering / workshop skills.
- Excellent problem solving and electrical fault finding skills.
- Excellent PC skills - Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and influencing skills.

- Driving Licence preferred but not essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- You will be expected to take the lead on projects when working with MSSL Instrument Technicians and sub contractors.
- Assist in the in-house training of Instrument Technicians.
Work Environment
- Overseas work may require extended length of stay.
- The position is Aberdeen based and will involve a mixture of offshore and onshore based project work.
- Travel will be as required, rather than on a regular rota.
